Highlight Activities 2025: Review of the millipede genus Orthomorpha Bollman, 1893 (Diplopoda, Polydesmida, Paradoxosomatidae) in Cambodia, with new records and descriptions of three new species

Researchers have added three newly discovered millipedes from Cambodia to a specific group of Southeast Asian millipedes known as Orthomorpha.
With these new additions, this group now includes 59 recognized species.
Scientists identified these three new millipedes as entirely new species by carefully examining their unique physical features, paying special attention to their reproductive organs.
To help other researchers recognize and study these animals, the study includes detailed drawings, highly magnified 3D photographs of their unique body parts, and an updated step-by-step guide for identifying all the known millipedes of this group found in Cambodia.
นักวิจัยได้ค้นพบและตั้งชื่อกิ้งกือชนิดใหม่จากประเทศกัมพูชาจำนวน 3 ชนิด ซึ่งจัดอยู่ในกลุ่มกิ้งกือเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ สกุล Orthomorpha ทำให้ปัจจุบันกิ้งกือในกลุ่มนี้มีจำนวนชนิดที่ได้รับการยอมรับอย่างเป็นทางการรวมทั้งสิ้น 59 ชนิด
นักวิทยาศาสตร์สามารถระบุได้ว่ากิ้งกือทั้ง 3 ชนิด นี้เป็นสายพันธุ์ใหม่ของโลกโดยการศึกษาลักษณะทางกายภาพที่โดดเด่น โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งลักษณะของอวัยวะสืบพันธุ์
