🐌 หอยจิ๋วสกุล Bensonella ชนิดใหม่ และการบรรยายลักษณะใหม่ของหอยจิ๋ว Hypselostoma loei Panha & Prateepasen, 2005 (Eupulmonata: Hypselostomatidae) จากประเทศลาวตอนกลาง

Researchers studying tiny land snails in the limestone mountains of central Laos have made two exciting discoveries.

First, they found a brand-new species, officially named Bensonella hunlaman. This unique snail stands out from its relatives due to its see-through, white shell and specific internal shell bumps.

Second, they discovered a snail species Hypselostoma loei that was previously thought to exist only in northeastern Thailand, proving that its natural home range actually extends into Laos.

To confirm these findings, the scientists examined the snails’ DNA for the very first time, which definitively proved that the new species is truly unique and verified the exact identity of the newly found population.

นักวิจัยที่ศึกษาหอยทากจิ๋วบริเวณภูเขาหินปูนในแขวงเวียงจันทน์ ตอนกลางของประเทศลาว ได้ค้นพบสิ่งที่น่าสนใจสองประการ

📍 อย่างแรกคือการค้นพบหอยทากจิ๋วชนิดใหม่ของโลกที่มีชื่อว่า Bensonella hunlaman ซึ่งมีความโดดเด่นจากหอยชนิดอื่นตรงที่มีเปลือกสีขาวโปร่งแสงและมีลักษณะปุ่มหรือสันนูนภายในเปลือกที่เฉพาะเจาะจง

📍 อย่างที่สอง นักวิจัยได้พบหอยทากชนิด Hypselostoma loei ซึ่งก่อนหน้านี้เคยมีรายงานการพบแค่ในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของประเทศไทยเท่านั้น การพบในครั้งนี้จึงเป็นการยืนยันว่าถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัยขยายครอบคลุมข้ามมาถึงประเทศลาวด้วย

นักวิทยาศาสตร์ยังได้ตรวจวิเคราะห์ดีเอ็นเอ (DNA) ของหอยทั้งสองชนิดเป็นครั้งแรก ซึ่งผลการตรวจก็ช่วยยืนยันอย่างชัดเจนว่าหอยชนิดแรกเป็นสายพันธุ์ใหม่ และช่วยยืนยันความถูกต้องของสายพันธุ์ที่สองที่เพิ่งพบในลาวด้วย

🌏 งานวิจัยครั้งนี้สอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน (SDGs)

เป้าหมายที่ 15 ปกป้อง ฟื้นฟู และสนับสนุนการใช้ระบบนิเวศบนบกอย่างยั่งยืน จัดการป่าไม้อย่างยั่งยืน ต่อสู้การกลายสภาพเป็นทะเลทราย หยุดการเสื่อมโทรมของที่ดินและฟื้นสภาพกลับมาใหม่ และหยุดการสูญเสียความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ

เป้าหมายย่อย 15.4 สร้างหลักประกันว่าจะมีการอนุรักษ์ระบบนิเวศภูเขาและความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพของระบบนิเวศเหล่านั้น เพื่อจะเพิ่มพูนขีดความสามารถของระบบนิเวศเหล่านั้นที่จะให้ผลประโยชน์อันสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน ภายในปี 2573
