🔬 Research Highlight
A recent study has significantly expanded our understanding of Cambodia’s carnivorous land snails, raising the country’s known biodiversity of the family Streptaxidae to seven species across five genera. During surveys of limestone karst habitats, primarily in Stung Treng Province, researchers discovered four species completely new to science: Perrottetia chauliodonta, Perrottetia chauliotropida, Carinartemis thalaborivatianus, and Carinartemis pterocarinata. Additionally, the team recorded two species—Indoartemon tridens and Haploptychius michaui—in Cambodia for the first time. The researchers identified and differentiated these species by examining their unique shell morphologies and the highly complex arrangements of teeth-like structures, known as lamellae, located inside their shell openings. The research highlights the critical ecological role of limestone karsts. These isolated geological formations act much like oceanic islands, restricting animal movement and promoting “micro-endemism,” a phenomenon where closely related species evolve to survive in highly restricted, local geographic areas.

🇹🇭 การศึกษาวิจัย
การศึกษาวิจัยล่าสุดได้ขยายความรู้เกี่ยวกับหอยทากบกนักล่าในประเทศกัมพูชาอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ โดยเพิ่มจำนวนความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพของหอยในวงศ์ Streptaxidae เป็น 7 ชนิดใน 5 สกุล ในระหว่างการสำรวจพื้นที่เขาหินปูน โดยเฉพาะในจังหวัดสตึงแตรง (Stung Treng) นักวิจัยได้ค้นพบหอยทากนักล่าชนิดใหม่ของโลกถึง 4 ชนิด ได้แก่ Perrottetia chauliodonta Man, 2026, Perrottetia chauliotropida Man, 2026, Carinartemis thalaborivatianus Man, 2026 และ Carinartemis pterocarinata Man, 2026 นอกจากนี้ ทีมวิจัยยังได้รายงานการค้นพบหอยอีก 2 ชนิดในกัมพูชาเป็นครั้งแรก ได้แก่ Indoartemon tridens และ Haploptychius michaui การค้นพบนี้ผ่านการตรวจสอบลักษณะสัณฐานวิทยาของเปลือกหอยที่มีความเฉพาะตัว รวมถึงการจัดเรียงที่ซับซ้อนของโครงสร้างที่มีลักษณะคล้ายซี่ฟัน (lamellae) ซึ่งอยู่บริเวณปากเปลือกหอย งานวิจัยยังเน้นย้ำถึงบทบาทสำคัญทางนิเวศวิทยาของภูเขาหินปูน ที่ซึ่งโครงสร้างทางธรณีวิทยาที่ตั้งอยู่อย่างโดดเดี่ยวเหล่านี้ทำหน้าที่คล้ายกับเกาะกลางมหาสมุทร ซึ่งจำกัดการเคลื่อนที่ของสัตว์และส่งเสริมให้เกิด “สิ่งมีชีวิตถิ่นเดียวระดับจุลภาค” (micro-endemism) ทำให้สิ่งมีชีวิตสายพันธุ์ใกล้ชิดสามารถวิวัฒนาการและอยู่รอดได้ในพื้นที่ที่ใกล้ชิดกัน

🎯 งานวิจัยครั้งนี้สอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายที่ 15. ปกป้อง ฟื้นฟู และสนับสนุนการใช้ระบบนิเวศบนบกอย่างยั่งยืน จัดการป่าไม้อย่างยั่งยืน ต่อสู้การกลายสภาพเป็นทะเลทราย หยุดการเสื่อมโทรมของที่ดินและฟื้นสภาพกลับมาใหม่ และหยุดการสูญเสียความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ
🏔️ และมุ่งในประเด็นเป้าหมายย่อย 15.4 สร้างหลักประกันว่าจะมีการอนุรักษ์ระบบนิเวศภูเขาและความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพของระบบนิเวศเหล่านั้น เพื่อจะเพิ่มพูนขีดความสามารถของระบบนิเวศเหล่านั้นที่จะให้ผลประโยชน์อันสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน ภายในปี 2573
