นายก้องกิจ มาเจริญบุญ นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอก ภาควิชาชีววิทยา ร่วมกับนางสาววริศรา มโนนัย ภายใต้การดูแลของ รศ. ดร.เอกชัย จิรัฏฐิติกุล ได้ค้นพบ กุ้งแคระน้ำจืดชนิดใหม่ของโลก จากต้นแม่น้ำแม่กลอง โดยได้รับการตั้งชื่อว่า 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑎 𝑚𝑎𝑒𝑘𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑠 (Macharoenboon, Manonai & Jeratthitikul 2024) หรือ “กุ้งแคระน้ำจืดแม่กลอง”
